Candle Sconce - 28cm.
Candle Sconce - 28cm wide.
Traditional sgraffitto decoration incorporating two opposing fish.
Another shape that lends itself to this traditional style of decoration. A process that can take several hours for one pot alone. A contrasting coloured clay slip is coated over the warm terracotta clay and drawn through with the background being scratched away to leave the design.
This piece has a crimped rim and is stamped using a cross and dots motif that I took an impression of from a late medieval jeton coin.
Hangs on a wall through a hole and fits a tapered dinner candle that I recommend cutting in half as pictured.
